 Tennessee State women’s basketball continued Ohio Valley Conference play on Saturday afternoon, gaining valuable road experience in a 76–39 contest at Little Rock inside the Jack Stephens Center.

The Lady Tigers (2–11, 1–3 OVC) received steady contributions across the lineup, led by Icesis Thomas, who paced TSU with seven points on an efficient 3-of-5 shooting while adding a steal in 17 minutes of action. Amiyah Ferguson added six points and four rebounds, while Aaniya Webb chipped in six points and an assist.

Tennessee State showed balance inside, scoring 20 points in the paint and competing on the glass with 34 total rebounds. Brianna Wooldridge and Kiki Robertseach pulled down five rebounds to lead the team, with Wooldridge also contributing a block and a steal. Erin Martin anchored the interior defensively with five rebounds, an assist, and two steals.

Off the bench, the Lady Tigers accounted for 19 points, with Thomas, Ferguson, and Roberts combining to provide a spark. Xai Whitfield added five points, knocking down TSU’s lone three-pointer, while Sadie Sanchez and Genesis Harris contributed on both ends of the floor.

How It Happened

Tennessee State opened the game with confidence, jumping out to an early 10–7 lead following a 6–0 run capped by baskets from Thomas and Webb. The Lady Tigers stayed competitive throughout the opening quarter, entering the second period trailing just 15–13 after multiple lead changes.

The second quarter saw TSU continue to battle inside, with Wooldridge converting a putback and Roberts getting to the free-throw line as the Lady Tigers went into halftime down 39–27.

After intermission, Tennessee State continued to attack the paint, scoring six of its eight third-quarter points near the basket. Whitfield and Sanchez added buckets during the stretch as the Lady Tigers pushed the pace in transition.

In the final quarter, TSU remained aggressive defensively, forcing turnovers and contesting shots. Webb added a late basket inside, while Ferguson closed the scoring with a jumper in the paint as the Lady Tigers continued to compete until the final buzzer.
